Group Therapy aka "Book Clubs"

Group Therapy aka "Book Clubs"

Group therapy is very effective especially combined with individual therapy.  But what's so great about group?  Yeah, I know... you already struggle with anxiety and thinking about stepping into a new situation that has strange people that will be judging you, you could do without, right?  Let me put you at ease.  Group is multifaceted.  First thing's first: By facing you're anixety head on by going to this group despite it, you're taking the first step in rewiring your nervous system to judge danger more accurately.  Secondly, every single person in the group is suffering with something just as you are.  These are the most compassionate people as they understand pain better than most.  They also are concerned about everyone else's judgements just as you are.  I guarantee you that the hardest part about engaging in group is getting to the first one.  After that, it is no longer scary as you know what to expect.  Besides facing your fears, you get the gift of supportive company, and with that company comes healing because that's the common goal of all!

  • Women's Book Club

Are you a woman that's been traumatized in your life?  Feel like you can't get past these events, the memories or strong feelings pop up out of nowhere, and maybe you sometimes feel crazy or out of control?  Feel like no one in your life really understands or can help?  Good news!  There are other women out there that can completely relate, and there is so much that can be done to reduce the power of these memories/feelings that seem to control your life.  It's such a relief to know you're not alone and be in a supportive and caring environment while you learn to take back that control.  You can all do it together!  I'll help by guiding and teaching how to manage this specific type of pain.

  • Couple's Communication Book Club

Having trouble communicating?  Who doesn't??  This is a group that will teach you the skill of Marshall Rosenberg's Non-Violent Communication technique.  It's the most kind, clear, and straightforward way to deliver your message.  According to Marshall, anger is what disconnects us from each other which is what makes violence possible.  This form of communicating helps us to stay connected heart to heart without blaming or criticising each other.  It also teaches the critical skill of listening.  Yes, that part of communication that it feels like the other isn't doing well.  Chances are, neither are you.  Come to this workshop and learn the art of NVC!  Come with a partner or without.  It doesn't matter.

Meets every other Sunday from 3:00-4:30 pm.
